Founder & CEO
Stephen Reinstein is the founder and CEO of Market Muscles, a Virginia-based platform he launched in 2016 to serve martial arts and dance studio owners. His origin story is unusually on-brand: he started training in martial arts at age two and began teaching himself web design and development at twelve, eventually working at agencies that built sites for large corporations and political figures. That commercial work paid the bills but didn't line up with what he cared about, and Market Muscles was his attempt to redirect the same skill set toward an industry he had grown up inside.
The thesis running through the company is that most studio owners didn't open a school to sit behind a desk managing billing, chasing leads, or debugging a WordPress site. Reinstein's bet is that martial arts and dance studios are underserved by both horizontal SaaS (Mindbody, Jackrabbit) and generalist marketing agencies, and that the right answer is a single vertical platform combining lead-generating websites, member management software, and marketing automation — now with AI layered on top for chat, follow-up, and answer-engine optimization.
The company has grown to a team of more than fifteen and publicly states it serves over 1,000 martial arts and dance studios. The About page leans heavily on Reinstein's personal story and the team's shared values (empathy, integrity, innovation, consistency) rather than on external credentials or investor milestones, so most of what is knowable about the firm's trajectory comes from the founder's own account and the breadth of the product footprint.
Editorial
Editor’s take
Market Muscles positions itself as a vertical SaaS provider for martial arts and dance schools, offering an integrated platform rather than marketing services alone. The site emphasizes operational software (billing, scheduling, attendance) alongside lead generation and retention tools. Messaging targets founder pain (admin overload, lead generation anxiety) rather than marketing sophistication. The platform includes built-in AI chatbots,…
What they do
Services
Lead-Generating Websites
Custom studio websites built on Market Muscles' own platform, designed around trial sign-ups and intro offers rather than brochure-style pages. Includes mobile optimization, conversion-focused layouts, hosting, and SSL tuned to how parents actually shop for a dojo or dance studio.
SEO & Answer Engine Optimization
Local SEO for martial arts and dance studios paired with newer Answer Engine Optimization work aimed at surfacing studios inside AI chat results and generative search. Focus is on the queries families use when evaluating classes by age, discipline, and neighborhood.
Marketing Automation (Email & SMS)
Pre-built nurture sequences for studio-specific lifecycles: trial inquiry, no-show follow-up, intro-to-membership conversion, and win-back for lapsed students. Runs inside the same platform as the CRM so lead status and attendance can trigger messaging.
AI Chatbot & Lead Management
An AI assistant embedded on the studio's site that answers common parent questions (pricing, age ranges, schedules) and books trial classes around the clock, feeding qualified leads into the built-in CRM for instructor follow-up.
Studio Management Software
All-in-one back office covering billing and recurring tuition, attendance check-ins, belt and level rank tracking, digital waivers, point of sale for gear and events, and appointment scheduling. Designed to replace the stack of spreadsheets and single-purpose tools most studios cobble together.
Reputation Management
Automated review requests timed to positive touchpoints (belt tests, recitals, milestone attendance) with monitoring across Google and Facebook to help studios build and defend the local review counts that drive new family inquiries.
